Knowing God is our Greatest Treasure   Leave a comment

Lately, the Lord has been teaching me about this topic. I was rejecting Him blessing me financially because I saw how money made God’s people do evil. I saw where people made money their god and turned from the true God. Those actions turned me away from money. I didn’t want any riches, I just wanted my needs provided for. I wanted to proved to Him I was sincere. But my actions were wrong also because I was rejecting His blessing. With me rejecting His blessing, I was rejecting Him (apart of Him). That was selfish of me. I thought I was being humbled, but I was not. I began to feel I was better than those who made money their god. Yeah, I was wrong also. I was making myself an idol. I had no money, but I was prideful. Thank God for His Loving Grace and Mercy for bringing me to the truth. He told me “there is nothing wrong in having money. It’s the love of money that’s the root of all evil”. Then He reminded me of something I prayed a while back. I asked that when He send us riches, please don’t let it be my god. I prayed that in faith, now I have to trust Him to do what I prayed. I was holding back receiving a way He wants to bless me to prove I want Him; which is wrong. I was so afraid to prosper financially because I didn’t want to lose Him. I wanted to settle for lack so I could keep Him. I’ve been seeking Him for years now. But in my seek I was still rejecting Him. He asked me the other day “how does it make me feel to have lack”. I said not good. He wants to provide for us in every way. Some He has to help get away from making money their god; and some He has to help know that money isn’t evil. I like what Andrew says “money isn’t good nor evil”. It’s just here. But what are we doing concerning it. Are we making it a god or are we rejecting it thinking we are being humbled (like I WAS). The bottom line, there’s nothing wrong with having money, but don’t let money have you. Praises to our God for ALL His blessing.

KNOWING GOD IS OUR GREATEST TREASURE  – From Andrew Wommack Ministries

Matthew 6:21, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

MATTHEW 6:19-21

If isolated from the rest of God’s Word, there are some scriptures that could be interpreted to mean that having money or wealth is wrong. However there are other scriptures that speak of riches as a blessing. The harmony between these two apparently opposite positions is that money is neither good nor bad. It is the love of money that is the root of all evil, and many have committed the sin of loving money who don’t even have a dime (1 Tim. 6:10)! The love of things (covetousness) is idolatry, and this is what Jesus is addressing.

Because it is so easy to lust after money and the things it can provide, the Lord established a system whereby prosperity is a by-product of putting God first. As Matthew 6:33 states, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." We should no more reject the blessing of prosperity than we should covet it, which is idolatry.

The reason for not laying up treasures on this earth is so that we will not have our hearts drawn away from the things of God. A key to success in the Kingdom of God is singleness of purpose. We don’t have the capacity to do our best in two areas at the same time. If we will simply put God and His Kingdom first in every area of our lives, He will add to us all the wealth that we need. What is more valuable or important than knowing Him?
